John 1:12

But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, [even] to them that believe on his name: The right to become God's own children! Halleluiah! How blessed are we who believe! To become children of God's right hand, adopted into everlasting glory, is such a wondrous act of mercy that we can only respond with praise never-ceasing! Holy, holy, holy is our Lord! Hallelujah! Rejoice!

Matthew 26:63

The high priest said to him, "I charge you under oath by the living God: Tell us if you are the Christ, the Son of God." 64"Yes, it is as you say," Jesus replied. "But I say to all of you: In the future you will see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Mighty One and coming on the clouds of heaven." (NIV) In the darkness leading to the Cross, Jesus gives us a vision of what will be in our future. Jesus gives us a wonderful vision. Jesus, in all His wonderful ways, gave us a gift while His earthly life was about to be taken from Him. The vision of Jesus coming back to earth on the clouds of heaven gives all of us hope. Perhaps tomorrow will be the day. Perhaps next week will be the time we see Him. No person now living on earth may get to see Christ return. However, we will get to see Christ return whether we are alive upon the earth or with Him in heaven. The glorious day of His return is a day when we will all shout for joy.

Is Your Lamp Filled?

Matthew 25 25:1 "Then the kingdom of heaven shall be likened to ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom. 25:2 Now five of them were wise, and five were foolish. 25:3 Those who were foolish took their lamps and took no oil with them, 25:4 but the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps. 25:5 But while the bridegroom was delayed, they all slumbered and slept. 25:6 And at midnight a cry was heard: 'Behold, the bridegroom is coming; go out to meet him!' 25:7 Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. 25:8 And the foolish said to the wise, 'Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.' 25:9 But the wise answered, saying, 'No, lest there should not be enough for us and you; but go rather to those who sell, and buy for yourselves.' 25:10 And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, And those who were ready went in with him to the wedding; and the door was shut. 25:11 Afterward the other virgins came als

We can depend on God as our source of strength.

"He gives strength to the weary and increases the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary, and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." Isaiah 40:29-31, NIV. "The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid." Psalms 27:1, NKJV

1 Corinthians 1:30

But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption: "All we have we have from God as the fountain, and in and through Christ as the channel of conveyance. He is made of God to us all we need, or can desire. We are foolishness, ignorant and blind in the things of God, with all our boasted knowledge; and He is made wisdom to us. We are guilty, obnoxious to justice; and He is made righteousness, our great atonement and sacrifice. We are depraved and corrupt; and He is made sanctification, the spring of our spiritual life; from him, the head, it is communicated to all the members of his mystical body by his Holy Spirit. We are in bonds, and he is made redemption to us, our Saviour and deliverer." —Matthew Henry

Seeing And Believing

John 20:28-29 NIV: Thomas said to him, "My Lord and my God!" Then Jesus told him, "Because you have seen me, you have believed; blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed." Do we, like Thomas, require some sort of visual affirmation to assure us that what God says is true? Or do we believe that God is faithful without requiring any sign or wonder? Have we seen that "what he had promised, he was able also to perform" (Rom.4:21), and therefore because we believe, we are able to see? As we seek Him in the Spirit, we require no proof that God is who He is, or that He will fulfill His Word to us. God is substantiated within Himself and need not present himself in the fire, thunder and lightening in order that we might believe. The world says that, "seeing is believing, but as we place our faith in Jesus, it is believing that leads to truly seeing-and not the reverse.

God Is Love

1 John 4:12 says, No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us. In other words, even though no person has ever actually seen God the Father, we are able to see God's character as we love one another. Remember that God is love (1 John 4:8); so, when we walk in love, we are like God. Thus, although we can't actually see God, we can see his character in our love for each other (and in his love for us). Indeed, Romans 5:8 tells us that God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Furthermore, Jesus said that we, his disciples, will be known by our fruit: By their fruit you will recognize them (Matthew 7:16, 20). Galatians 5:22 tells us what that fruit is: The fruit of the Spirit is love ... . Thus, we are known by our love—love for one another and love for God. It is so important to walk in love, because love is the visible attribute of an invisible God.

Romans 10:13

For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. How bountiful the mercy of our Lord that He should not only allow salvation, but promise it to those who seek Him. Praise God for your everlasting life! Praise the Lord that He drew you to seek Him!

Who are God's children? Spiritual birth makes someone a child of God.

"To all who received Him, to those who believed in His name, He gave the right to become children of God—children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of God." John 1:12-13, NIV "How great is the love the Father has lavished on us, that we should be called children of God! And that is what we are! The reason the world does not know us is that it did not know Him." I John 3:1, NIV Feeling down today? Don't, just remind yourself that you are a child of the King!~

Hebrews 4:9-10

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God. For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God [did] from his. Our gracious Father offers His children the beautiful promise of complete rest in Him. The author here makes an earnest plea to the recipient of the epistle—let us receive this abundant spiritual life that God has made available to us. May we take strength in His eternal rest!

Fear Anxiety and Depression

“An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up” (Proverbs 12:25, NIV). “I sought the LORD, and he heard me, and delivered me from all my fears” (Psalm 34:4). “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:6-7). “Humble yourselves, therefore, under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you” (1 Peter 5:6-7) (Also see Psalm 55:22-23) “Why are you downcast, O my soul? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise him, my Savior and my God” (Psalm 42:5). “…the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, be

Isaiah 54:17

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD.   Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary 54:11-17 Let the people of God, when afflicted and tossed, think they hear God speaking comfortably to them by these words, taking notice of their griefs and fears. The church is all glorious when full of the knowledge of God; for none teaches like him. It is a promise of the teaching and gifts of the Holy Spirit. All that are taught of God are taught to love one another. This seems to relate especially to the glorious times to succeed the tribulations of the church. Holiness, more than any thing, is the beauty of the church. God promises protection. There shall be no fears within; there shall be no fightings without. Military men value themselves on their splendid titles, but God calls them, Wasters made to destroy, f

Psalm 147:11

The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy. Oh Lord, may there be in our hearts, at the same time, both a reverence of Your majesty and a resting in Your goodness, both a believing dread of Your wrath and a believing expectation of Your favour; not that we must hang in suspense between hope and fear, but we must act under the gracious influences of hope and fear. May our fear save our hope from swelling into presumption, and our hope save our fear from sinking into despair. May we hope in Your mercy, even when we cannot find a particular promise to stay ourselves upon! —Matthew Henry
